Really, is this what people think?
Recently I told two people that I was thinking about working in the inner cities, as I am going into a Human Services major. They both looked at me like I was insane and said that the kids there should just shoot each other and do us all a favor.

Really? Is that what everyone thinks. Why? It really really pains me to think that there are probably others that think that way. I just want to know why people think this way. And I don't want answers like: "They are doing us all a favor!" I want a real answer, one with substance.

I just don't understand why anyone would think that. It literally rips my heart out. I feel for these kids. It honestly makes me hurt and sad, its brings me to tears. And when people say that its their fault they live like that it makes me want to scream. I 100% do not believe its their fault. Yes, they may choose to be in gangs and the such, but sometimes, they have no other choice. If a gang was my only choice for a "family" life, I'd take it. Who wouldn't? We are people, people need social interaction, especially with a few individuals that you can become close to.

I guess I see this world through a different lens.
